Pokémon Are Coming to Your Town : The Pokémon Center Temporary Store 2026.02.24

1. Encountering Pokemon in Areas without Pokémon Centers

Pokémon Center Co., Ltd. operates 22 official Pokémon Center and Pokémon Store locations throughout Japan. While these permanent shops serve as attractive destinations for fans, we established Pokémon Center Temporary Stores as a way to bring the excitement of Pokémon to regions without one of them nearby.

These Pokémon Center Temporary Stores are limited-time pop-up shops, organized in partnership with various facilities across the country.

We bring the latest Pokémon information and an official shopping experience that helps people feel closer to Pokémon,” a staff member explained. “That’s the philosophy we have in mind at each store we open”.

2. Wholly Unique Spaces Tailored to Local Communities

Each Pokémon Center Temporary Store is planned out in a way that complements the unique qualities of the region and the host building.

As a staff member noted, "When we opened a shop at Aeon Mall Mito-Uchihara between September and October 2025, Halloween decorations were already starting to go up, so we selected our decorations using a matching color palette and featured Pokémon that harmonized with the seasonal atmosphere."

We create more than a simple retail event; we provide a complete production, including everything from announcements and exterior decor to promotions and customer service, to create a special atmosphere unique to that time and placeThat is the strong point and charm of Pokémon Center Temporary Stores.

The team also decorated the shop interior with Pokémon from the latest title, Pokémon Legends Z-A, which was released in October 2025. This generated significant excitement from store visitors, with some leaving feedback such as, “I was really happy that it had the same atmosphere as the Pokémon Centers.” Mall traffic was also boosted, as some visitors mentioned that these displays heightened their anticipation for the game’s release date.

A staff member shared, “We received lots of requests from visitors for us to return to Aeon Mall Mito-Uchihara and open a shop again next year. Seeing how the locals enjoyed the event so much makes me feel like we successfully contributed to the atmosphere of the mall.”

3. From Touring Pop-up Stores Across Tohoku to Partnerships with Airports and Stadiums: Limitless Collaboration Potential

In Summer 2025, we launched the Pokémon Center Temporary Store project. Following the renovations of the permanent Pokémon Center Tohoku, the plan was to connect the six prefectures of the Tohoku region through Pokémon. It also featured Pikachu dressed in costumes inspired by six local festivals, generating conversation among both fans and locals.

“For this project, which expanded beyond our permanent Sendai location, we designed unique branch logos for each of the participating prefectures,” a staff member said. “Our customer survey showed that visitors felt a level of satisfaction comparable to visiting a permanent Pokémon Center.”

Besides shopping malls, we expanded our reach to airports and stadiums in 2025. At Haneda Airport Garden, we curated a product selection designed with international tourists in mind, focusing on Pokémon that appeared in the games that started it all, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green (released as Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue outside Japan).

During our shop in Nagasaki Stadium City, we teamed up with the Pokémon Fossil Museum special exhibition held at the Benex Dinosaur Museum. To make it more representative of the region, we designed the store with wall-to-wall decorations and a life-size statue of Ampharos, who was previously appointed as the “Nagasaki Future Support Pokémon.”

4. Embracing Mobility and Flexibility Provided by Temporary Store

While the permanent Pokémon Centers are long-term, fully managed operations, Pokémon Center Temporary Stores are, as one staff member puts it, “short-term stores optimized for mobility and flexibility.”

“The advantage that Pokémon Center Temporary Stores grant us is the ability to plan flexibly according to the location, timing, and the local needs. This allows us to create highly original campaigns and events that are only possible with these types of stores. We plan to continue exploring new possibilities that play to these strengths.”

Following the mission of The Pokémon Company to enrich both the real world and virtual world with the Pokémon characters, we will continue to use the dynamism unique to the Pokémon Center Temporary Stores to bring special Pokémon experiences and memories to fans across Japan.
